Tamil Nadu govt employees to get 6% hike in DA

Tamil Nadu government employees have received a Diwali gift of 6% hike in dearness allowance with effect from July 1 this year.

This follows the hike in DA for central government employees announced earlier this year.

More than 18 lakh employees, pensioner, family pensioners, teachers and others will benefit. It will cost Rs 1,501.24 crore to the exchequer.

“The increase in DA from July 1 will be given in cash to more than 18 lakh employees, pensioners and family pensioners. I believe that with this increase in DA, government employees will be enthused to work with more vigour,” said chief minister J Jayalalithaa in a statement.

Each employee would get a minimum of Rs 366 per month and a maximum of Rs 4,620 increase in their salaries while pensioners and family pensioners would get a minimum of Rs 183 to Rs 2,310 per month, said the statement released by the chief minister.
